Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor…
As Maine Christians in Politics, we must ask the Lord to strengthen our faith in Him, and our knowledge of Him, so that we will love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Please consider the Bible passage and a quote from the reading I did last evening and from my devotions this morning.
1 Chronicles 29:10b-13 (HCSB)- a prayer of David-
“May You be praised, Lord God [Yahweh Elohim] of our father Israel, from eternity to eternity. Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to You. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all. Riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler of everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and it is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name.”
Randy Alcorn, from ch. 4 of his new book, If God Is Good-
“To glorify and magnify God is not to make more of Him than He is; that is impossible. Rather, it’s to affirm His greatness, attempting to do justice to His infinite majesty and power and wisdom and love, even though inevitably we’ll fall short.”
Let’s praise God with all our ability today, according to His revelation of Himself to us in the Word and in Christ!
