A “Civil Unions” Law = Counterfeit Marriage
Recently, I saw a video excerpt from the WLOB debate of the Republican gubernatorial candidates, held several weeks ago. The moderator asked if they would sign a civil unions law that granted homosexuals all the rights of marriage except that title. Sadly, all but one of the GOP candidates said, “Yes”, they would sign it. Only Bill Beardsley stood against the deception of homosexual “marriage” disguised by another name. I liked Bill’s stand and was especially disappointed to see Paul Lepage offer to sign such a bill.
Any Bill to change or confuse Maine’s excellent marriage laws would endorse a counterfeit of true marriage. We know the difference between genuine U.S. currency and counterfeit currency. A genuine piece of currency has been issued by the Federal Reserve under authority delegated by the U. S. Congress, based upon the authority granted in the U.S. Constitution. A counterfeit has been made by someone with no right to create currency. Maine banks and businesses of course will not accept counterfeits for payments or for deposit.
Even if the Maine legislature voted to authorize the printing of a new currency, and called this a Federal Reserve note, it would still be a counterfeit and would not be acceptable for deposits and payments. In fact, it would be a crime to issue such counterfeits. The Maine legislature and the governor has no authority to issue Federal Reserve notes.
Marriage, the union of one man and one woman, was the first institution created by God for the benefit of mankind, long before he created the government or the church. A civil unions bill would usurp God’s authority by equating the counterfeit of same sex relationships with real marriage.
Several religious leaders in Maine have said that this type of law would be right and good. But Jesus Christ himself rebuked religious leaders who wanted to corrupt the marriage laws in Israel, by saying, “Haven’t you read that He Who created them in the beginning made them male and female, and He also said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?” Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.”
Therefore, what God has created, Maine legislators and the next governor should not counterfeit and destroy. We must maintain genuine man/woman marriage in Maine. Any and all civil unions laws should be rejected and if need be vetoed.
