"And when Palin said that America needs a commander in chief, not a law professor, the crowd went wild."

A brief report on Sarah Palin’s speech to the Tea Party Convention in Tennessee by Matthew Continetti of the Weekly Standard.

The State of Sarah’s Union.

An excerpt from the article:

The timing of the speech was also significant. Palin used the talk … to respond to the president’s State of the Union address from last week. Palin’s mention that today is Ronald Reagan’s birthday positioned her squarely among his heiresses. More interesting, Palin started off with a concentrated attack on the Obama administration’s national security policies–not an issue for which the Tea Partiers are known. Palin noted that the president spent hardly any time on foreign policy during his annual report to Congress–indeed, she spent more time on our Israeli and Japanese allies, our Iranian and jihadist adversaries, and our strategic competitors than he did. And when Palin said that America needs a commander in chief, not a law professor, the crowd went wild; one was momentarily transported back to her famous speech at the 2008 Republican National Convention.

Thank God for giving Sarah Palin a platform to expose the corruption in Congress and the White House, just as she did years ago in the city government of Wasilla, AK, and then in the state government of Alaska.

Facebook | Sarah Palin: Midnight Votes, Backroom Deals, and a Death Panel.

Here are a couple of good excerpts from her post on Facebook December 22.

Last weekend while you were preparing for the holidays with your family, Harry Reid’s Senate was making shady backroom deals to ram through the Democrat health care take-over. The Senate ended debate on this bill without even reading it. That and midnight weekend votes seem to be standard operating procedures in D.C.

My insertion here – as the Scriptures say,

19 “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed. 21 But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”John 3:19-21 (HCSB)

More from Sarah Palin,

This entire process has been defined by midnight votes on weekends, closed-door meetings with industry lobbyists, and payoffs to politicians willing to sell their principles for sweetheart deals. Is it any wonder that Americans are so disillusioned with their leaders in Washington? This is about politics, not health care. Americans don’t want this bill. Americans don’t like this bill. Washington has stopped listening to us. But we’re paying attention, and 2010 is coming.

My personal comment to close this post: Amen. May it be so, Lord.

And now for some laughter – we all need a break once in a while from the news of the day.

Sarah Palin was the featured speaker at Washington D.C.’s annual Gridiron Club dinner. She mixed truth and funny lines in generous portions, poking fun at both herself and at the assembled DC journalists, and reportedly had the audience in stitches. As usual, no video is allowed at this event. A transcript has emerged however, so we can enjoy Palin’s presentation in print at this link:

To The Point News – SARAH AT THE GRIDIRON.

One good excerpt [bolding added by me]:

That Democrat speaker [who would follow Palin at the Gridiron podium] I referred to is, of course, the one-and-only Barney Frank.

And I’m the controversial one?

Barney, the nation owes you and the government a debt. A huge, historic, unbelievable debt.

But, it’s good to be here with you, Mr. Chairman.

Because by Chairman, I don’t just mean the House Financial Services Committee. As far as I can tell, Barney’s also the Chair of AIG, CITI, and the Bank of America.

Too true, too true, and very sad!

Quote: From the dust of what seemed a political misstep has arisen a political force. Yes the Palins have emerged stronger, but it is what has emerged with them that has elitist terror reaching derangement levels. “Average” Americans are beginning to put their feet into the political arena.

Please check out this insightful and witty post from another Maine blogger. Here are two nice excerpts [my emphasis added] but I recommend that you read the whole post-

1. I think Governor Palin put it best by stating the hatred and disdain of her is really a hatred and disdain of middle America. This is not an overreach. Liberal elites are terrified of the idea of empowering middle America. If middle America were to be aroused and mobilized it would toll the death knell of elite aristocracy.

2. Still, the “Terror of Sarah” continues to climb. This wasn’t supposed to happen. The Media elite were certain that after they sent their rabid dogs after Bristol, Willow, and Trigger that Todd and Sarah Palin would retreat protectively to their “place” in Wasilla. It seems the “retreat” had far more to do with strategy than capitulation. From the dust of what seemed a political misstep has arisen a political force. Yes the Palins have emerged stronger, but it is what has emerged with them that has elitist terror reaching derangement levels. “Average” Americans are beginning to put their feet into the political arena.

More Maine Christians need to pray for these values to be embraced, and to support leaders who embrace these civic values. Finally, some of us need to become the civic leaders, the candidates who advocate these common sense values in Maine.

Here is an interesting summary of the common sense, pro-American values that I think could win elections in Maine and elsewhere. These come from an article at American Thinker, by Ted Belman.

Although he applies them to Sarah Palin, these are not original to her, and not exclusive to her. More Maine Christians need to pray for these values to be embraced, and to support leaders who embrace these civic values. Finally, some of us need to become the civic leaders, the candidates who advocate these common sense values in Maine.

Here is the key section of the article-

Sarah Palin represents common sense values that Independents can rally to. She eschews the Party and its brand and embraces the people and their values. So what are these values?

1. Energy; “Drill, baby, drill”, “Exploit all the above”

2. Economy; “Stop digging the hole deeper.” and unleash the private sector.

3. Healthcare; She favors competition, tort reform and waste reduction.

4. Environment; Rejects Cap and Trade. Favors environmentally sensitive development.

5. Security; Support the armed services and let them do their job. Don’t lower your guard. Specifically, stand by your allies, win in Afghanistan and treat terrorists as terrorists, not citizens.

6. Israel; Build, baby, build. She supports the right of Jews to build in Judea and Samaria. She rejects Obama's racist policy of telling the Jews where they cannot live. She is a harsh critic of Ahmedinejad and his government and faults Obama for not supporting the opposition.

7. Patriotism; Patriotism is good, not bad. America is good, not bad. The Constitution must be protected and upheld.

8. Social; She supports life not “death panels”, the weak including challenged children and the elderly, hard work and not entitlement, private sector charity rather then government handouts..

9. Ethics; Accountability over cronyism.

Not only do these values appeal to her base, they appeal to Middle America, to Independents and Democrats. On all these issues, Obama and the Democrats have set themselves up for a fall. Palin is on the right side of these issues and everyone knows it.

via American Thinker: The Palin brand.
